My Sister Cindy
The Kidney Transplant !!!
I'm the
youngest of 5, my sister Cindy has been ill for over 10 years with a kidney disease.
September 2004, the doctors told her
that if she did not find a kidney donor soon, she could die.
So out of 5 children, I matched perfectly.
This was
a scary procedure, and I was going to need to be off work for several weeks.
I had 3 children and a house full of
cats, thinking what if ?
I knew that I had to do this for my sister.
So , after tons of testing for me to
make sure I was a match, Friday December 10th 2004 we met at the hospital at 6am and my heart was racing so fast I thought
I was going to pass out.
The whole waiting room was completely full with friends and family, we all cried for each
other, we hugged and kissed before they called us back.
They called us back, and I remember walking down the hall and
around the corner to the surgery room, I went to the left and my sister went to the right.
We embraced telling each
other it's going t be alright.
The next thing I remember is waking up in our room full of people smiling and telling
me the surgery went perfectly.
I looked to my left in the bed were my sister was lying, I could not believe how bright
and pink her complexion was, before the surgery her complexion was very grey.
She was so happy, I could see it
in her face that she felt alive and well again.
The next day we decided to make ourselves get up and
walk, I admit it was very painful. we walked at least 3 times around the nurses station.
The doctors
and nurses were so amazed we were doing so well, not to mention, we had no drugs after the surgery, just Tylenol.
We were
released just 2 days after the transplant.
Well it's been 5 years now and my sister is doing great, she is a full
time manager at a large chain of beauty-shops.
Sis, I Love You
